Joe Capone of SMaRT Financial Partners LLC, a hedge fund specializing in financial stocks, throws out a zany prediction. "When John Thain steps down from NYSE,

on or before January 2009, (as he has stated he would) he will either join Citigroup's (C) board and be viewed as a possible successor to Chuck Prince or will replace him outright."  A move the fund manager thinks would definitely be positive, "He did and incredible Job a NYSE (NYX).  Citi is far more complex, but I think he could do a similar job. Frankly, Citi is win/win. Either Prince executes and turns Citi around or someone like Thain is brought in."
