Sleeplessness and Awe

So here we go into a new dimension of Sleeplessness and Awe. My son was born February 23, after 18 hours of grueling labor. Or should I say after 39 weeks of gestation, and 18 hours of grueling labor. Anyway, he is here and we are amazed. I feel like I’ve just won the lottery. In fact you can have the lottery winnings, I’ll take my baby. I feel like the Grinch at the end of the cartoon when his heart grows five sizes. Not that my heart was small to begin with, but that it has just swollen and is overflowing  with  joy. I really need to get serious about starting his college savings account. Right now I’m just trying to get enough sleep to string together coherent sentences.

There is so much I want to show him about life, but for now I’ll be content to teach him about love, clean diapers, and Desitin. He has already taught me a lot about love. I have learned that I can go much farther than I thought I could. Believe it or not, you can live on just a couple hours of sleep each night. He has taught me that love is giving people what they need irregardless of how I feel. This is just the germ of a great thought, and I need to fully apply it to my life.

Welcome to this harsh and beautiful world, Aaron.  May God hold you in His hands and use you in this world to demonstrate His justice, hope, and love.
